Q: What are the eligibility requirements for living at one of your properties?
A: All residents MUST be at least one of the following:
- 62 years of age or older.
- Disabled, subject to Section 8 Income Limits.
Q: Is there a waiting list?
A: Yes. Our waiting list works on a first come, first served basis, subject to apartment availability. Notice of an available residence could possibly take over one year.
Q: Am I responsible for paying for my utilities?
A: Yes, all residents are responsible for paying for general utilities (heat, electricity, etc.) However, residents are given a utilities allowance in the form of credit towards your rent.
Q: How much is the rent?
A: The rent is set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The resident’s payment of the rent is generally a maximum of 30 percent of a resident’s income. The difference between the rent and the resident’s payment is paid by HUD.
Q: What do I do in case I need a repair in my apartment?
A: All buildings have a superintendent and maintenance staff who can be contacted at the building for requests for repairs.
Q: Do I have to pay for any repairs?
A: Generally, repairs due to normal wear and tear are part of the landlord’s responsibility. Damages caused by the resident will be charged to the resident.
